Dining Companion Volunteer (Ward 1 (Weekdays 16:30 - 19:30))
Volunteers are a really important part of the team at MKUH, supporting patients and staff across the hospital, helping us do more.
At MKUH, giving your time helps make a big difference to our patients’ lives. Having volunteers enables us to do more, whether that is time to spend with patients, or helping give our teams extra capacity. Volunteers are vital in helping the Trust deliver the highest quality healthcare possible to our many patients. Volunteering is also an excellent opportunity for people to give back to their local hospital and to help make a real difference.
Can you help us achieve our goal to improve patient's wellbeing and mental health throughout their hospital stay? We require passionate and outgoing individuals to provide companion support to patients, you might be assisting the team with delivering meals and providing encouragement to eat, offering a snack round across the ward, reading the newspaper, providing a hand massage, allowing staff, relatives and loved ones to form a connection that is not just focusing on their hospital stay.
We look for you to be able to commit to a minimum of 3 hours a week for 6 months. If you have any experience or particular interest tell us, it may come in useful. It’s really easy to get your volunteering started. If you're over 16 years old (18 years old for some roles), just click on ‘Apply’ and get filling in your details!
